Light Dry Red

Light Dry Red

2019 Red Blend
Hilltops, New South Wales

A 'summer red' blend- think pizza, BBQ, friends

$28 each

Description

The 2019 Light Dry Red has been blended to produce a red that is great for Spring / Summer- a softer and brighter style of red wine that can be enjoyed all year round- maybe even with a cheeky 10 minutes in the fridge before pouring... The aroma is full of dried spice as well as fresh florals, this continues onto the palate which is bright and light, red currants, light tannins and a long middle seam that cries out for a Caprese salad.

Tasting Notes

Grenache, Mataro, Merlot, Malbec, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Shiraz

Sourced from the Mokhinui vineyard in the Hilltops region of NSW, the vineyard has a lot of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon planted and an awesome block in the middle that is a combination of pretty much every variety that blends well with Shiraz and Cab. Here I buy Grenache, Mataro, Merlot, Malbec, Tempranillo and Petit verdot.

Following on from the 2013 Field Blend, I was looking to make a fun wine to match with pizza and BBQ’s – a summer red style to share with mates.

The addition of Petit Verdot has really popped the mid-palate with crunchy bright fruits coming to the fore. The Shiraz and Tempranillo combine to anchor the palate and give it a depth of flavor.

A fun blend, easy drinking style.
